The Booktenders Challenge

We are pleased to announce the first Booktenders Reading Challenge. This is a fun way to keep you reading, encourage you to explore new genres and writers, and support an indie bookshop throughout the year.

How it works

We'll provide 12 challenges, one category for each month of 2023. You choose the book that matches the category - we're happy to offer suggestions, but the final pick is yours.

Live far away? No problem, you can play too!

January: A book that appeared on a 2022 year-end list. There were tons of those, so choose the list that resonates with you the most. We pulled together a sampling of titles that appear on a year-end list for you.

February: Written by a Black author.

March: Written by a female author.

April: Written by a Maine author.

May: By an AAPI author.

June: Anything by an LGBTQIA+ author

July: A Nonfiction book.

August: Read a book at the beach - tag us in a photo on Instagram.

September: A banned book.

October: A book less than 200 pages.

November: A book written by a Native American author.

December: You pick!

At the end of the year, send an email with your completed list to info@thebooktenders.com for a bookish surprise. Feel free to tag us in any bookish pics you take throughout the year - especially the book you read at the beach!
